The Leadership Lesson I Had to Learn the Hard Way
At the start of my career, I was laser-focused on one goal: Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.
I treated corporate life like my own season of Survivor: Corporate Edition —strategizing every move, anticipating every twist, and working twice as hard to prove I belonged.
For a while, I was winning. Promotions came. Opportunities surfaced. I had mastered the game.
Until I realized the game wasn’t built for me to win.
No matter how well I played, the final tribal council—the executive table—wasn’t handing out torches to people like me. I spent nearly a decade stuck, wondering why delivering results wasn’t enough to move forward.
That’s when I made a choice. Instead of fighting to fit into a system that wasn’t designed with me in mind, I decided to build something new. A future where people who understand the heartbeat of a community—because they’ve lived it—are the ones leading, allocating resources, and designing solutions that actually work.
Real leadership isn’t about surviving the game. It’s about changing it.

Powered To Rise was born from my journey to reclaim my voice, my purpose, and my power. I saw too many brilliant leaders—especially women of color—pushed to the sidelines, struggling to secure the resources and recognition their work deserved. I knew there had to be a better way.
Today, I help leaders like you build digital platforms that amplify your voice, attract funding, and inspire change. By merging storytelling, technology, and leadership coaching, I empower changemakers to not only disrupt the status quo but to rewrite the rules entirely.
